Healing Takes Courage

One of the hardest things you can do is to gain the courage to ask for help. At alteredSTATE, we believe that we’re all recovering from something, because we’ve been there. Creating sufficient and long-term lifestyle changes means more than just putting down the bottle, the drug, or that negative pattern. It means healing interpersonal relationships & behavior. Creating attainable action steps to reach realistic goals is what works. Tony has lived it, and he’s here to guide you with a program that works – helping you create a life of possibilities.

A Recovery Coach with Experience

Tony graduated with a Bachelor’s in Science from Florida State University, a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Miami, and a Masters in Healthcare Leadership (MHL) from Brown University. After selling his cut flower B2B platform in 2000, Tony’s career in healthcare started in Brooklyn, NY. He gained experience selling in the highly competitive New York market and successfully launched 25 drug therapies in his career.

Individual Recovery Coaching

No matter if you’ve suffered from addiction, divorce, bankruptcy, or a toxic relationship, we’re all recovering from something. Obstacles do not discriminate, and life is known to throw us curveballs from time to time. We all have moments where we lack the tools and skills needed to handle difficult emotions. Sometimes we need guidance, training, and assistance to handle life’s challenges. That’s where individual recovery coaching comes in.

What is Recovery Coaching?

Recovery coaching is an evidenced-based, person-centered approach to guide people suffering from addiction (or other maladaptive behaviors) toward fulfilling and meaningful lives. Recovery coaches are mentors and leaders.

As a recovery coach myself, I help people become the best version of themselves by shedding their old mentality and embracing one anchored to four crucial pillars:

With these four distinct pillars, I assist individuals in identifying underlying causes of their issues, create accountability in their lives, and navigate the treacherous and unfamiliar path of recovery. I also help integrate individuals into the community and introduce them to resources that help them begin shedding maladaptive patterns and negative belief systems.

What Does Recovery Coaching Look Like?

Recovery coaching begins with understanding your personal story, background, strengths, and weaknesses. From there, I help you identify and set attainable goals for yourself by creating an action plan. With weekly sessions, daily check-ins, and customized lesson plans, I’ll assess what’s working, what isn’t working, help you process any uncomfortable feelings, and guide you toward improving and enhancing the skills you need to move forward.

During a recovery coaching session, I will ask questions and maintain active listening. I’ll also educate and inform you on the reason behind the treatment approaches. However, you lead the way on deciding what your definition of recovery is. I’ll support your choices and assist you to make these decisions a reality in your life with healthy coping mechanisms. Finally, I’m available for calls, texts, or emails when you’re experiencing cravings or uncomfortable feelings, and I’ll encourage and motivate you to participate in new coping strategies to process the feelings.

We’ll explore what steps and techniques are beneficial to you to help you succeed in your recovery. Together, a recovery coach accelerates your progress in recovery by providing a greater focus and awareness of your choices, actions, and responsibilities. I’ll help identify what you’re doing today to create a better tomorrow.
